Monkey Cake!

This carved monkey cake was for a little boy named Byron. Originally his mommy asked for a spongebob cake until her husband suggested that I try to make his favorite stuffed animal that he doesn't put down. She sent me the picture and I quickly decided that I could do it! The body is yellow cake with raspberry butter cream, and the head is Styrofoam covered with fondant. The eyes nose and mouth were drawn on with a food writer. The 10" round is chocolate fudge cake with cream cheese frosting.

Had a small meltdown when it came to carving the Styrofoam because while I was carving I guess I cut too deep in and all these tiny balls came pouring out. Luckily I had two other balls that were different densities and it all worked out perfectly.

So happy to make a little boy happy on his birthday!

Here is what the cake was based on:

One of my best friends baby shower!

My friend Patty who I've known for about half of my life is having a baby! And I volunteered to throw the shower at my house. I made a cute cake and cupcakes! The cake is banana with banana creme filling and cream cheese frosting covered in fondant. The little girl on top is made from bake and mold clay which was set on a little piece of card board so it wouldn't be touching the cake. I thought it would be a great thing for them to keep and maybe give to their daughter one day.

Elmo cake !

My sisters friend wanted an Elmo cake for her nephews birthdays. They are turning 1 and 2! So I knew I couldn't just do the Elmo face on top of a sheet cake. I wanted to do something more show stopping. So I settled on the idea of a tier cake with a gum paste Elmo on top. My Elmo face, I thought, came out pretty well. But his body was mistaken for Budda hahahaha. But they loved it and even tried to dive face first into it when I set it up on the table!

The Cake: French vanilla layered with Chocolate Fudge cake
Frosted with cream cheese frosting

Baby rump baby shower cake

I received and email asking for this cake and I thought it was so adorable! The original cake decorator was pretty genius.

I use a small ball pan for the "rump" and the cake underneath was a 10" round both were banana cake with banana cream filling and cream cheese frosting. The legs and feet I shaped out of rice krispies treats which was a pain in the butt. I didn't have enough fondant to make them smooth. But it came out cute any way.

First post!

Ok sooooooo this is my very first post and I'm hoping I will keep up with this.

This is a small wedding cake I did on 8/8/09 delivered to Pasadena Ca.

This cake was very simple Devils food with butter cream covered in powder blue
marshmallow fondant. The branch is fondant and the flowers and gold butter cream.
There wasn't great lighting at the restaurant I delivered to but I think it's a good picture.
